The end of the season

Well, the regular season has come to an end. But, I have to tell you that I am so glad that I got to be on the roller coaster ride that was this football season. It has been such a pleasure to watch these guys do such great things and although it did not go completely as planned, I could not be more proud to be a Red Raider football fan!

Now, we get to sit back and watch this whole BCS mess unfold. What kind of stinks is that we will be the team that everyone talks about because we will just miss out! I remember, over the years, watching the BCS selection show and thinking, "Man, I would hate to be that team!" Ironic, huh? None the less, until the rules change, we have to be okay with being the 3rd best team - which is certainly nothing shabby!

There is nothing wrong with the Cotton Bowl and I will be more than happy to cheer the boys on to a victory there! Let's just keep our fingers crossed for whoever plays Missouri because if Missouri wins who knows where we will be? So, I suppose, it is Go Texas or Go Oklahoma.....ouch, painful!

Best wishes for a good, warm week for everyone ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! I am very thankful for everything that I have in this life although I don't always take the time to celebrate it! I hope that everyone has a great day of family, turkey and football! Cheer on those Aggies.....One can always hope!!!

Come on Red Raiders....

So you essentially have to live under a rock not to know that the Red Raiders suffered a pretty devastating loss on Saturday to OU.  As I sat there and watched the scene unfold, I was reminded of the days when I was at Tech and the defense was, well, less than par.  However, somehow the sadness was worse this time around.  I can only imagine it was because this year had taught me a new level of excitement for a team that seemed like they could have it all.  HOWEVER, I will not be one of those people who gives up on my team.  Yes, the road took a turn, but welcome to life!  I would really love to meet the person whose life stayed on the path intended?!?!

Anyway, I will continue to cheer on and support my team this upcoming weekend.  I am proudly wearing my red and black (even with some office ridicule...) and will continue throughout the week.  Now, I must be honest, I am wearing an OSU-orange tank top underneath my Tech stuff because we, obviously, need a little Cowboy help with our situation.  And, much to my father-in-law's dismay, I will be cheering on those Aggies because a Texas loss certainly can't hurt!

Come on guys, please continue to be proud of these Red Raiders and the work that they have done.  Yes, Saturday did not go as planned, but there is still a chance that a BCS bowl could happen for us!  GO TECH!

Still in a fog

So, that is me right now.  For those of you who don't know, I had a very good friend of mine in this past weekend to teach my winterguard their 2009 contest show.  He did a great job and so did the kids!  But, after a 4-9 rehearsal on Friday, 9-9 on Saturday and 1-6 Sunday, we were all pretty spent.  I guess, at the time, I did not realize it because of the adrenaline, but yesterday and today have been really easy for me to feel it - I am kinda worthless today ;-)

Then, there is work.  I love what I do.  But, I have to be honest and say that I very much overwhelmed right now.  Since the team that I work on is now down to 2, there is much more on my plate and I kinda feel like I am drowning.  Oh well, guess I better learn how to be a better swimmer....

I guess it is just sort of a weird time for me.  I am very excited about this winterguard season, but the work load scares me.  I do love what I do, but when you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel it is not always so fun, and I just want to not be stressed all the time.  I miss the way life in the LBK was just a few mere weeks ago....

Anyway, enough of that!  I am so excited for the Tech-OU game this weekend!  I have put off asking off from work for the National Championship and the Big 12 Championship because I am afraid that I will jinx my team.  However, after this weekend, and hopefully a big win, you bet your socks that I am going to request those days off because I will be yelling my heart out for my Red Raiders.  Everyone wear your red and black this week because it is time to Beat the Sooners!

I hope everyone has a great week ;-)

Weird

Somehow the title of my last post ended up being qq and I don't know how that happened nor do I know how to fix it! Just wanted to make sure everyone knew that I was aware. The real name of the post was supposed to be "Could it be happening", just FYI!

qq

Okay, so I have to be honest here! When my husband made the prediction that we could be in the Big 12 Championship/National Championship, I thought he was crazy! However, I find myself wondering could this really be happening? Now I know that the OU team is really good and that we will be at a disadvantage because it is on their home turf, however, this is a fantastic Tech team. As I watched the offense score time after time last night I realized just how hard it is for a team to stop the Tech team. Between an offense that can't really be stopped and a defense that is playing better than ever (minus the first defensive set last night...) I really feel like this could be it! Come on Red Raiders....get it done! So proud to be a Red Raider!

Now, for a soapbox moment. I was so embarrased by our student section last night. During the OSU school song, they thought it would be appropriate to bust out in RAIDER/POWER. Now, I am all for school spirit but, come on guys! There is a time and place and during the opposing team's song is not the time. I don't understand why it is so hard to just get your guns up and shut your mouth for 2 minutes! I just feel embarassment, that is about all I can say. I do have to give them credit for actually staying in the stands and showing class at the end of the game but it is too bad that they looked like idiots earlier on! I just hope that if the winning streak continues and we are able to stay at the top that our students will figure it out! Grow up guys!

I am looking forward to a fun, but very stressful, week. I have two rifle clinics on Monday and Tuesday and then my winterguard clinic with Mr. Marquez over the weekend. It will be a fun and exciting week and I can't wait for my FHS kids to get to experience a learning environment like him. They will know their entire WG show before the weekend is over - crazy!

I hope that everyone has a good week!

So Excited!

So, if you are anywhere on the planet you know that Tech knocked off the #1 team in the country last night - the University of Texas! Needless to say, my heart is still recovering from it but, man, what a win! This could go down as one of, if not the best, game in TTU football history!

Our whole day yesterday was just incredible! We started off the day by hanging with the Goin Band at College Gameday. Steve and I even managed to be on TV for a few short seconds ;-) Then, it was on to the game. Our team played really well, with a few small issues, but overall really well! The halftime show was absolutely amazing - Congrats to the Goin Band and their staff for an amazing Pirates of the Caribbean show! The crowd was all over it and seeing Anderson dressed up as a pirate was freaking cool!

However, I was a little distressed right at the end. No matter how much fun I have at games, our student section never ceases to amaze me (and it is not a good thing!) I actually got into a small screaming match with one of the many students who apparently could not read and decided that storming the field many times before the game truly ended would be a good idea! I just don't understand why they cannot be more aware of what is going on. Two penalties later, they finally figured it out! I just hate it for our University because the team worked so hard as well as the spirit organizations and then the students manage to throw it all away. Oh, and not to mention that we were on NATIONAL TV.

Anyway, I am done with the rant! I am so proud to be a Red Raider right now and I am so looking forward to the weeks to come! GO TECH!
